When you use Gistful, we collect usage data including account creation, followed shows, selected podcasts, searches, opened briefs, saved items, timestamps clicked, plan tier, request timestamps, response times, errors, and related product activity. We use this information to provide the service, enforce limits, monitor health, prevent abuse, and improve Gistful.

Podcast Source Data

Gistful processes public or licensed podcast RSS metadata, episode audio, transcripts, timestamps, titles, artwork, and generated briefs so users can browse, search, and navigate business podcast episodes. This source material belongs to its respective owners.

Legitimate Reasons for Processing

We only collect and use your personal information when we have a legitimate reason for doing so. We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services to you.

• follow podcasts or use Gistful's briefing, search, and reading features;
• subscribe to a paid plan;
• use a mobile device or web browser to access our content;

• provide Gistful's core features and services;
• authenticate accounts and enforce usage limits;
• show followed podcasts, briefs, timestamps, and search results;
• generate, store, and improve source-linked podcast briefs;
• contact and communicate with you;
• send service-related notifications, billing confirmations, and product updates;
• enable you to access and use our website and associated applications;
• maintain internal records and administrative systems;
• comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes;
• prevent fraud and abuse and keep our sites and apps secure.

Security of Your Personal Information

When we collect and process personal information, and while we retain this information, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and no one can guarantee absolute data security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed. Specific retention periods include:

• Account data: retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days after account deletion.
• Billing and financial records: retained for 7 years as required by Croatian and EU accounting law.
• Product usage logs: retained for up to 180 days unless needed for security, debugging, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.
• Server logs: retained for up to 90 days unless needed for security, debugging, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.

If personal information is no longer required, we will delete it or make it anonymous unless retention is required for legal, accounting, reporting, or legitimate business purposes.

Children's Privacy

We do not aim our products or services directly at children under the age of 13 and do not knowingly collect personal information about children under 13.

We may disclose personal information to:

• Vercel - application hosting and edge network;
• Clerk - authentication and user management;
• Convex - database, backend functions, and application data;
• Deepgram - podcast transcription processing;
• OpenRouter and model providers - language-model processing for briefs;
• GitHub - code hosting and deployment workflows;
• payment, email, analytics, error logging, and cookie consent providers when those services are enabled.

Model and Transcription Processing

To create briefs, Gistful may send podcast audio, transcript text, episode metadata, and related instructions to transcription and language-model providers. Account information is not intentionally included in those processing requests unless needed to provide a user-facing feature.

International Transfers

The personal information we collect is stored and processed in the European Union, the United States, and other locations where we or our third-party providers maintain facilities. If we transfer personal information to third parties in other countries, we will perform those transfers in accordance with applicable law.

Your Rights and Choices

You do not have to provide personal information to us, but if you do not, it may affect your use of Gistful. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, download, object to, restrict, or delete personal information we hold about you.
